There
is a place that exists in the universe of music,
a mystical place where anything is possible.
There are no rules and no limitations. Nothing
exists but the love of music; this is the world
of Nano 3. Rising from the ashes of the Lehigh
Valley band Point Blank, Nano 3 has created
an eclectic sound, admired by many but mimicked
by few. With a sound described as experimental
and unpredictable this band rocks with a passion
possessed by very few. Forming in the Allentown
area in 2000, Nano 3 quickly distinguished themselves
from the existing cookie-cutter rock scene with
a truly unique sound.
The
band played their first showcase at Mayfair,
a music and arts festival in Allentown, PA.
An audience of over 1,000 people was incredibly
receptive to the band, and many converted to
the new found religion of Nano3. For the past
four years the band has been touring almost
non-stop in the Tri-state area, supporting their
three independent releases, Fatmandu, The Orange
Album and Transitions.
Most recently Nano 3 has been featured as part
of the OMAP summer concert series and at the
"Best of the Lehigh Valley" summer concert series
at Musicfest in Bethlehem for the past two summers.
They also recorded their song "So What" at the
Menagerie Recording Studio in Saylorsburg Pennsylvania
for a compilation CD (Menagerie Recording Studio,
Compilation Disc, Volume 1) featuring the best
local talent from around the Lehigh Valley area.
Originally a trio, Nano 3's current lineup consists
of five key players, 3 of which are students
of Temple University's Jazz program. Founding
members Greg Snyder and Jerry Hunsberger comprise
the string section, with new additions Tyree
Barron applying experimental saxophone stylings,
Mike "Duke" Ducassoux laying down smooth, driving
drum beats and James Cargill fronting the band
with his incredible vocal talent and his off-the-wall
stage antics. "Transitions" is the band's latest
album, but this album, although loved and respected
by many, does not include all of the current
members.
